ASFC Camp Imagine is held at Camp Hanes in King, NC. Hosted by ASFC, Camp Imagine is a camp within a camp, for children with autism spectrum disorder or related communication disorders.  Camp Imagine directors work closely with the Camp Hanes staff allowing kids to participate in fun activities within a schedule that suits their individual needs. 

Eligibility
Children ages 7-17 years with autism spectrum or related communication disorders are eligible to apply for Camp Imagine. Camper applications will be reviewed individually and decisions regarding admission will be made by ASFC Board members, Camp Imagine Directors and others in consultation with ASFC. Special Needs
IIf a camper requires one to one assistance for daily living, special behavioral intervention, or special health care needs (beyond routine oral medication), please email Donna Zayas at adzayas@triad.rr.com. Also, be sure to include detailed information about these needs on the camp application. Such situations must be discussed before the camper application is processed. Failure to do this may forfeit participation in camp and forfeit the deposit.

Cost
The cost to attend Camp Imagine is $369 per camper. This includes the $319 cost to attend the Camp Hanes, plus $50 to cover ASFC services.

Registration
To download a copy of the Autism Society of Forsyth County's application, click here. You can also request an application be mailed to you by emailing Donna Zayas at adzayas@triad.rr.com. A $50 non-refundable deposit/payment to ASFC is required with each application. Applications must be postmarked, faxed, or hand-delivered by May 27, 2011.

Important! Look for special registration option for Camp Imagine on the Camp Hanes application and/or CLEARLY INDICATE “CAMP IMAGINE CAMPER” on the application. Camp Imagine will adhere to the same cancellation policy outlined on the Camp Hanes application.

Admission Criteria

• Camper must have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder or a related communication disorder.
• Camper must be at least seven years old by camp start date.
• Camper's behavior must be manageable within ASFC guidelines and the supervision the camp is able to provide.
• Camper must be exempt from any of the following health problems:

• serious or contagious disease
• diabetes management for unstable, brittle diabetics which require insulin or glucose checks multiple times a day
• unstable blood pressure management
• wound management
• severe behavior problems
