Camp Imagine - New Dates June 11-14, 2008

Registration is now open for ASFC Camp Imagine held June 11-14, 2008 at Camp Hanes in King, NC. Hosted by ASFC, Camp Imagine is a camp within a camp, for children with autism spectrum disorder or related communication disorders.  Camp Imagine directors work closely with the Camp Hanes staff allowing kids to participate in fun activities within a schedule that suits their individual needs. 

Eligibility
Children ages 7-14 years with autism spectrum or related communication disorders are eligible to apply for Camp Imagine. Camper applications will be reviewed individually and decisions regarding admission will be made by ASFC Board members, Camp Imagine Directors and others in consultation with ASFC. Special Needs
If a camper requires one to one assistance for daily living, special behavioral intervention, or special health care needs (beyond routine oral medication), please call Donna Zayas at 336-923-1097. Also, be sure to include detailed information about these needs on the camp application. Such situations must be discussed before the camper application is processed. Failure to do this may forfeit participation in camp and forfeit the deposit.

Cost
The cost to attend Camp Imagine is $349 per camper. This includes the $299 cost to attend the Camp Hanes mini-camp, plus $50 to cover ASFC services.

Applications must be postmarked, faxed, or hand-delivered by April 15, 2008.
A $75 deposit is required with each application.
Cancellations will be accepted until May 15, 2008.
For cancellations received after May 15, the deposit will not be refunded.

Admission Criteria

    • Camper must have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder or a related communication disorder.
    • Camper must be at least seven years old by camp start date.
    • Camper's behavior must be manageable within ASFC guidelines and the supervision the camp is able to provide.
    • Camper must be exempt from any of the following health problems:
      • serious or contagious disease
      • diabetes management for unstable, brittle diabetics which require insulin or glucose checks multiple times a day
      • unstable blood pressure management
      • wound management
      • severe behavior problems
